Villa Latona
About This Villa
Nestled in the tranquil village of Doukades, on the island of Corfu, Villa Latona is a true haven that beautifully merges history, art, and the natural splendour of its surroundings. With an aristocratic past, the villa’s elegance remains unmistakable. As you step into the villa, you are immediately welcomed by a grand entrance hall, its 6-metre-high ceiling offering a sense of vast space and elegance. From here, the journey through this magnificent home unfolds.
On the ground floor, the living room invites you to relax and unwind, offering a comfortable space to enjoy the views or perhaps indulge in a quiet moment with a book. The adjoining terrace offers a perfect spot to savour a coffee or enjoy the Mediterranean breeze, while the dining room provides an ideal setting for memorable meals, with seating for up to twelve guests. For those who enjoy preparing their own meals, the fully equipped kitchen and laundry room can be accessed via a gallery or secondary entrance.
Ascend the wooden staircase from the veranda to reach the Atelier, a spacious suite that once served as Claudia’s painting studio. This serene space, with its en-suite shower room, provides a unique opportunity to experience the creative energy that once filled the room. Further along, two independent quarters on the first floor—named in tribute to the former Prime Minister George and the empowering Jane Digby—each offer a bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, and living room. These rooms also grant access to a vast first-floor terrace, where the sweeping views of the surrounding park, valley, and village create a serene atmosphere, perfect for stargazing with a bottle of wine.
The second floor offers more intimate spaces with two bedrooms, each furnished with twin beds that can be joined to form a double. These share a bathroom, while two smaller rooms, perfect for children, offer individual bathrooms. The villa's thoughtful layout ensures both comfort and privacy for all who stay.
The exterior of Villa Latona is as enchanting as the interior. Surrounded by 7,000 square metres of lush gardens, the villa is shaded by centenarian Canary palms, pines, and cypresses—creating a cool refuge from the Corfu sun. Wander along gravel paths, where dappled sunlight filters through the oak trees and palm branches, while the exuberance of the garden's flora is beautifully balanced by a restraint in colour and form. The sparkling pool invites you to take a refreshing dip or simply relax by its side, enjoying the serenity of this exceptional property.
