Chateau De Vigner
About This Villa
Ideally situated for exploring the delights of the Loire valley, this self-catering holiday château, coach house and farm cottage are beautifully set in lush and extensive grounds and offer flexible accommodation for between 12 and 24 guests.
Step back in time whilst staying at the glorious 19th century main château with its charming interiors and old-world character alongside elegant furnishings and modern comforts. Sleeping up to 12 guests across five attractive bedrooms, each one with an en suite bath or shower room, there is also ample living space across its period living-dining room and wonderful library. There are plenty of original features from tiled floors to exposed wood-work and the newly renovated farmhouse kitchen is a joy for keen cooks wishing to prepare French family feasts.
The estate also features a 4-bedroom coach house and cosy 2-bedroom cottage, each one possible to book alongside the château if additional space is needed. Whilst each property is individual in style, size and character, they all offer excellent facilities such as satellite TV with English Freeview channels, well-equipped kitchens, their own al-fresco dining areas and barbecues as well as books, games and toys for all the family.
On-site facilities include a lovely 12m long swimming pool and terrace set within a secured walled garden, shared between guests in the château, coach house and cottage (or if you book all three using the 24 person rate then the pool is for your exclusive use). Then there’s the games room with a pool table and table tennis, lawns by the orchard for ball games, a badminton set, traditional boules and bikes for a variety of ages. The hospitable owners really do know how to create a fun and welcoming ambience for all !
Wine-lovers will appreciate the location of Château De Vigner so close to a small wine-producing village - vineyard visits alongside wine-tastings can of course be arranged. Pop into the specialist wine-shop in Doué-la-Fontaine, about 6km away, for great expertise on this subject matter.
Then there’s the many wonderful Farmer’s and Brocante markets dotted across the area each morning as well as the grand Loire châteaux that are known across the world, many of which can be reached in under an hour.
Even closer is the gorgeous town of Saumur on the banks of the Loire river, just 26km away, home to the Cadre Noir equestrian school as well as the impressive Château de Saumur. Canoe along the river, dine out in one of the many excellent restaurants or simply enjoy a glass of sparkling white in one of the many charming wine-bars.
