Chateau Beaux Champs
About This Villa
In the heart of rural Gascony, uniquely created using local stone and surrounded by a 500-acre estate featuring wild deer and boar, this family château is a remarkable place to stay.
Step back in time into the characterful interiors of this 8-bedroom château featuring antique furnishings and a rustic yet classic style. Records show that Château Beaux Champs dates as far back as the early 15th century and it has been the home to important aristocratic French families over the years.
Presently, beautiful features such as the sweeping staircase, grand fireplaces and rolltop baths add to the historic yet homely ambience whilst there are modern comforts throughout such as Wi-Fi, Sonos speakers in nearly every room and Netflix. The elegant kitchen is the perfect place to cook up a Gascon feast with its large Aga and Smeg oven, which can be served by candlelight in the dining room or out in the gardens on a warm summers evening. You can also make the most of the catering options offered by the owner's talented daughter including meal deliveries and brilliant barbecues.
During the day the swimming pool affords magnificent views of the Pyrenees in the distance or take a dip in the evening as the pool is beautifully lit up at night. Relax in the gardens whilst the kids play boules or croquet before heading out to the woodland to build dens in the vast and wonderful grounds. There is even a 14-acre lake, perfect for fishing or simply take out the rowing boat for a picnic in breathtaking surroundings as you appreciate the space, peace and quiet around you.
The largest organic farm in Gers, this is a fascinating area and there are some wonderful walking trails through the estate and beyond; indeed this region is a paradise for walkers, hikers and cyclists. Keen golfers only need to head 20 minutes north to Eauze whilst families are spoilt for activities from horse-riding to swimming and kayaking or simply picnicking by the local lakes within a short drive.
As well as shops and restaurants, the local village has a lovely Farmer’s market on a Monday morning or head to Eauze on a Thursday where you can buy oysters, bread and cheeses amongst other delicious local products in the remarkable market before enjoying foie gras and local duck in one of the excellent restaurants.
There’s an abundance of idyllic villages nearby from Lectoure to Fourcès whilst the beautiful cities of Auch and Pau are also worthy of a wonderful day out. Or simply head to the River Adour where you can walk peacefully by the riverside with its tumbling waterfalls and pools, finding the perfect spot for a picnic, fishing or bird-watching.
After making the most of all that this remarkable region has to offer, return to the peaceful surroundings of your historic château and with the services on offer and glorious grounds around you, you may never wish to leave.
