Villa Pamplemousse and Villa Grenade
About This Villa
Enjoy the luxury of two stylish villas next door to each other, set amongst the idyllic vines of a beautiful Luberon vineyard owned by Ridley Scott and family. Below the perched village of Oppède le Vieux, each of the houses features its own gently heated swimming pool and picture-perfect garden, allowing these wonderful abodes to sleep up to 12 guests.
Across both houses guests can appreciate the homes’ contemporary style alongside a true sense of Provençal charm with elegant furnishings, chic décor, artwork and even the occasional prop from the owner’s illustrious career. Not to mention high-end features including air-conditioning throughout, Smart TVs and iPod docks. The grounds of the two homes are connected via a door in the garden wall.
Starting off at Villa Grenade, make the most of the spacious ground floor with two inviting lounges and a gorgeous open-plan kitchen-diner with doors opening out to the covered terrace and garden. Upstairs are three sumptuous bedrooms, all with king-size double beds and en suite bathrooms. Outside, the garden boasts the sights and scents of Provence with lavender, pines, cypress trees and views towards the Luberon hills alongside the glorious swimming pool.
Next door is Villa Pamplemousse, equally as attractive with its wood-beamed lounge, sleek kitchen and three en suite bedrooms, one of which is situated in a garden annexe. We love the summer kitchen and barbecue overlooking the olive trees in the pretty garden as well as Villa Pamplemousse’s own swimming pool. Imagine relaxing on one of the terraces with a glass of the estate’s aromatic wines as you soak up the calming ambience of this special place.
Indeed, you will have the opportunity to sample some of the domaine’s wines on your complimentary hour-long winery tour whilst the estate’s wine shop is only a short stroll away. The winery also showcases some of the owner’s iconic costumes and sets – such a unique experience in Provence!
Discover the local boulangerie, café, restaurants and a small grocery store in the nearby village, around 1.5km away, and drive up to the perched village of Oppède le Vieux with its enchanting ambience, rich heritage and incredible vistas.
Hilltop Ménerbes is also close by, a village full of charm and beauty made especially famous by Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’ whilst other stunning villages of the Luberon include Gordes, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Look out for weekly markets, gastronomic restaurants, family-run wineries and a wealth of beautiful walks, hikes and cycle rides passing orchards, poppy fields, woodland and vineyards.
Other highlights of this part of Provence include L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or venture to Avignon for a fine day out exploring the city’s wine-bars, restaurants, bustling markets and two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Palais des Papes and Le Pont d’Avignon.
