Le Mas De La Fontaine
About This Villa
This spectacular villa, just a few minutes' drive from the heart of St-Rémy, has been designed to impress. With six elegant bedrooms, fantastic facilities and glorious gardens featuring a large swimming pool, this home is the perfect place for a memorable holiday with family or friends in this idyllic part of Provence.
Le Mas de la Fontaine is set on a vast estate, featuring two other restored farmhouses nearby and has its own grounds and swimming pool. Named after the old fountain that stands proudly in the glorious gardens, you are surrounded by space and greenery outside as you relax on one of the wonderful terraces. The grand swimming pool features relaxing water jets and a shallow end for smaller kids to splash around in and guests can pay for it to be heated to a specific temperature. Relax on the surrounding lawns as you relax in the sunshine, find shade under one of the ancient trees or listen to the trickle of the fountain from the al-fresco terrace.
As the evening approaches, meet in the summer kitchen with a difference; a splendid room with luxurious sofas and a 4 metre long dining table and kitchen area. Arched windows lead to an al-fresco dining terrace and barbecue or for cooler evenings you can light a fire as you feast inside with friends, family and fine local wine.
Elsewhere there is another well-equipped modern kitchen-diner, a cosy living room and six elegant bedrooms and bathrooms over the two floors of the main house. The artist’s studio offers space for yoga whilst the relaxation area features an infrared sauna, Italian shower and gym equipment. With home-cinema, wi-fi, satellite TV and music systems, the facilities seem endless and there is also frequent maid service during your stay.
It’s around 1.5km to St-Rémy, well-known for being popular with artists including Vincent Van Gogh. In the summer months, on selected Sundays, the ‘Route des Artistes’ fills with local artists showing off their work creating a wonderful and bustling atmosphere. The village is also famous for its many restaurants, from down to earth bistros found on pretty narrow streets to Michelin starred establishments. Food lovers, don’t miss the market on a Wednesday morning!
You are of course in the heart of this formidable area of vineyards, idyllic villages, world-renowned towns and summer landscapes of sunflowers and lavender both in Les Alpilles and beyond. Eygalières, Les Baux-de-Provence and Avignon are all within easy reach as well as Van Gogh’s beloved Arles and the mesmerising Luberon, which can easily be visited in a day. Whether exploring the local markets, cycling through lavender fields or pony trekking through the magnificent countryside, this region is sure to offer memorable activities for all ages.
When you return to your wonderful farmhouse you will appreciate the impressive facilities and high level of comfort as well as the delightful gardens and pool; this is a truly unique place in this captivating part of Southern France.
