Le Domaine Alvere
About This Villa
In the heart of the Dordogne, Le Domaine d'Alvère is a beautifully restored traditional manoir and tower house offering space, charm and an unmistakable sense of old-world character. As you arrive along the tree-lined driveway, guests are welcomed into four hectares of verdant grounds, where mature trees offer dappled shade across expansive lawns with extensive views of the open countryside. At the heart of the idyllic garden lies a gorgeous 14-metre pool, framed by sun loungers and perfect for long afternoons under the sun.
Inside, both houses blend timeless elegance with understated elegance. Starting in the manor house, original details and pretty fabrics lend a warm and nostalgic feel, while the interiors have been thoughtfully updated with style and comfort in mind. Expect traditional furnishings, polished wood floors and floral prints offset by modern bathrooms. The generous living spaces include a dining room with a fireplace, a cosy TV room with a Yamaha piano and a spacious kitchen that spills out onto both the front and rear gardens.
Meanwhile, just across the lawn, the Tower House exudes rich heritage alongside contemporary charm with a vast living-dining space and open-plan modern kitchen.
Sleeping up to 20 guests across ten bedrooms, the layout is ideal for groups of friends or extended families. Six bedrooms are located upstairs in the manor house (four with ensuite bathrooms), while a seventh bedroom with exterior access provides added privacy in the courtyard. The adjacent Tower House houses another three gorgeous bedrooms beneath the sloping ceilings upstairs. For family entertainment, guests will find table football in the manoir’s entrance hall alongside table tennis, croquet and boules in the gardens.
The estate sits within walking distance of a delightful village, where guests can enjoy morning croissants from the boulangerie or dine at one of two nearby restaurants. Just a little further by car, dine at the Michelin starred Le Vieux Logis in nearby Trémolat and look out for canoeing and kayaking near Limeuil, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
The location is perfectly placed for exploring many more treasures of the Dordogne, with Bergerac just 30 minutes away, and the mediaeval market town of Sarlat-la-Canéda under an hour’s drive.
With its generous proportions and wealth of classic French charm, Le Domaine d'Alvère offers a truly memorable getaway in one of France’s most celebrated regions.
