About This Villa
Located in the rural heart of Puglia you will find Trullo Mendula. This 250-year-old traditional Trullo building has been lovingly restored and is an idyllic base for your escape to Italy’s heel.
Tucked away on a small country lane with just a few other homes, olive groves and fields surrounding it, Trullo Mendula is a spacious family home which sits in 2 hectares of walled grounds. The location is perfect for a holiday as you can spend plenty of time relaxing in this peaceful setting and yet you are not isolated as the villa is in between Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni which are both lovely places to visit.
This light and airy home is made up of the main villa and an adjoining four-coned Trullo, a type of building specific to this area which is a quaint stone dwelling with a conical roof. In addition to this there is a charming separate annexe by the pool. In total the villa can sleep up to 12 guests and with 4 of these sleeping in the annexe this means the house is ideal for two families travelling together or a larger group of friends as you can spend time with each other when you wish to but also have your own space.
Although the building is historic, inside you will find modern décor and all of the conveniences you would need for a comfortable stay; including Wi-Fi, air conditioning and underfloor heating. The home centres around a large open-plan room with sofas and dining table plus a fully-fitted kitchen which is a great place to unwind and chat over a meal.
You are likely to spend lots of time outside enjoying the weather in the vast garden where you will find a number of covered seating nooks and dining areas as well as a gorgeous private pool. This tranquil garden is an oasis filled with lawns, olive trees and native planting.
When you wish to nip out for something to eat, there are a number of restaurants dotted around the surrounding hillsides and the town Ceglie Messapica is just 6km away by car. This pretty town has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants which fill its cobbled streets and ancient piazzas. As the town has been settled since 700BC there is lots to see including the old quarter with its Ducal castle and art museum.
Also nearby is Ostuni which is 12.5km away. Ostuni is known as The White City and is a dazzling white-washed hill town which amazing views. If you wish to visit a beach then you will be spoiled for choice as there are a wealth of stunning beaches within easy reach such as Torre Pozzelle a sandy beach 25km from the villa.
