Cosmic Villas is pleased to present this historic villa nestled on five acres among olive and almond trees. This Puglia mansion was previously a church and monastery dating from the 1300s. It's now a calm and trendy Italian retreat within 5-30 minutes from mediaeval villages and magnificent beaches with hidden coves.
The traditional stone building can be found throughout, acting as a decorative item in and of itself. The villa combines classic décor and antique furnishings with chic modern features like handmade vessel sinks.
The four modest bedrooms each sleep eight people and have their baths. At the same time, the kitchen and communal areas are expansive and inviting, with fireplaces and 'cantina' eating.
A secluded oasis awaits outside, with sun loungers beneath canopies, a swimming pool, and exotic gardens with fruit trees.
With the wood-fired pizza oven on hand, alfresco dining on the ancient stone piazalle or covered patio is a must. In addition, the house has a secret, underground limestone cavern with mediaeval frescoes going back to the 7th century!
Staying at this ancient villa is within walking distance of Ceglie Messapica's gastronomic heaven, complete with its famous Trulli houses. Try Osteria Pugliese, a local favourite and New York Times recommendation.
